Aparthotel Select Holidays Marina Park - Excursions

Look beyond the surf and sand on the Costa del Sol, and this part of Andalucia is home to a rich history, pretty white villages and stunning monuments. Select Marina Park is perfectly located to explore the very best of the region, and at Marina del Sol reception desk we’ve made it easy to book a number of different excursions. Here are some of our recommendations:

1. Jeep Safari

In modern open top Jeeps, go on a journey of discovery through wonderful countryside and authentic white washed villages, via a mixture of on-road and off-road tracks.

Meander through the many olive, almond, orange and lemon groves, and let your senses come alive with the flora and fauna of this unspoiled landscape.

2. Jeep Tours

For visiting Nerja (and its famous caves), Gibraltar or Ronda, you can book a guided Jeep excursion and discover the rich diversity of the region. On the Nerja tour, you’ll sample the beautiful Andalucian mountains, their flora and fauna, wildlife and spectacular views of unspoiled coastline, as well as the famous caves. Enjoy a tour to Gibraltar and take in the fascinating World War II tunnels, make acquaintances with the cheeky Barbary Apes, do Duty Free shopping; even a Rock Tour can be arranged. If a trip to cultural Ronda is on your bucket list, a Jeep Tour is an alternative means of getting there. Here, marvel at the spectacular El Tajo gorge and the Puente Nuevo bridge which straddles the 100m chasm.

3. Buggy Safari

Test your skills in the rough mountain terrain in your own, road legal self-drive, two-seater buggy. Follow the old trade routes and cattle tracks to discover wonderful almond, olive, lemon or oranges groves, with many stops for you to take in the vista and capture the views on camera.

This tour is an incredible and exciting way to discover landscapes you would never dream of, the diversity of driving through bumpy river beds, splashing through shallow rivers and past beautiful woodland. This is a nature trip and safari all rolled into one.

4. Dolphin Boat in Fuengirola

Explore Fuengirola Bay on a lovely boat trip in search of dolphins. Friendly, multi-lingual guides make this tour a load of fun, and if you’re lucky the dolphins will swim alongside your boat, so make sure you have your camera ready. But don’t worry if you don’t spot any, there are plenty of other cool sights to see on this enjoyable trip, such as flying fish and different bird species.

The boats are well-appointed with a bar, seating and toilet.

5. Coach trip to Seville

Book a coach trip to Seville, the capital of Andalucia and a truly captivating place. This panoramic tour takes in a visit to the stunning, semicircular palace of the Plaza de España, the world’s largest Cathedral (tickets included) and gives you time to explore the city by yourself.

6. Coach trip to Ronda

If you’re in search of a cultural experience, an excursion to the spectacular mountain-top city of Ronda should be on your bucket list. Famous worldwide for its dramatic views, and the deep El Tajo gorge that carries the rio Guadalevín through its centre, Ronda is one of Spain’s oldest towns.

You should make a beeline for the 18th century Puente Nuevo ‘new’ bridge, which straddles the 100m chasm below, for its unparalleled views out over the Serrania de Ronda.

7. Coach trip to Granada

Easily reached on a day-trip from Select Marina Park, Granada is steeped in incredible history and culture. No visit to Granada – or even to Andalucia – would be complete without seeing the jewel in the city’s crown that is the Alhambra Palace. Visited by around 3 million people every year, the Alhambra is Spain’s best preserved monument from the period of Moorish occupancy and richly deserves its status as a World Heritage site.
